Somebody knockin' at the door; Somebody ringin' the bell.

What I reply to JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES when they say, "Jesus is not God. He is only the son of God."

"You cannot be the 'son of God' without being God any more than you can be 'son of man' without being human."
You can go on to show and explain to the Jehovah's Witness how the Bible presents Jesus as possessing the essential properties both of deity and humanity and the different meanings of the word "son" as far as you are prepared to do so, but I have found that this simple response accomplishes two things. First, it catches them off balance. They are not usually prepared to deal with this answer from your average Christian. Second, it leaves them with something to think about, sort of like "putting a pebble in their shoe."

Sunday School Art

I first thought this was Eli's representation of the four angels holding back the winds of the Earth from Revelation 7, but he confirmed it was only four people eating green-and-blue spaghetti. ___Joseph Boyd

Wish you could have lived back in the day when...?

Do you have a favorite era in history in which you wish you had lived, rather than the present time? A momentous day when great events were taking place and you were there to see it with your own eyes? Sometimes, in a flight of fancy, I think how great it would have been to be alive at the time of the First Century Church, or during the Reformation. How exciting would it have been to live in New England during the Great Awakening and hear the preaching of George Whitefield.

But there is one factor that causes me to come to my senses and be thankful that I live in the time and place in which Providence has placed me:

THE STATE OF THE ART OF DENTISTRY, then & now.

Arminian Objection / Calvinist Response # 2

A. The will of God to save those who would believe and persevere in faith and in the obedience of faith is the whole and entire decree of election, and nothing else concerning this decree has been revealed in God's Word.

C. This plainly contradicts the Scriptures, which declare that God will not only save those who will believe, but that He has also from eternity chosen certain particular persons to whom, above others, He will grant in time, both faith in Christ and perseverance; as it is written "I have revealed Your name to the men whom You have given Me out of the world" (John 17:6), and "as many as had been appointed to eternal life believed" (Acts 13:48). And "He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him" (Eph. 1:4).

Raindrops

The first 4 photos were taken by Joseph Boyd after a recent rain storm in Tucson Arizona. The picture of raindrops on the Cedar (bottom) was taken in California last year.
